Why we take eight engagements a year, and no more.
Every advisory firm faces the same fork: scale by hiring juniors and selling the partners' faces, or stay small and sell the partners' hands. We picked the second, and capped it at eight engagements a year.
The cap is the product. It means the person in your Tuesday meeting is the person who signed the scope. It means we can afford the sentence 'this engagement should end early' — because our model does not die when we say it.
A consultancy scales by leverage. Advice gets worse with leverage. Pick one.
It costs us revenue every single year, and it is the reason the retention number on our homepage is real.
If you need an army, we will happily recommend one. If you need the number moved by people who have moved it before — the queue is real, and it is short on purpose.
